Matthew 24:30 with great power and glory

The words that the Lord speaks in the Gospels are addressed to Israel (Matt. 10:6; 15:24) and not directly to us as believers of the ecclesia, the body of Christ. Yet we have already seen that things are hidden in the Gospels that would only be revealed later. Now, with the knowledge of Paul’s letters, we can retroactively discover things that could not yet be seen in them at the time.

great power and glory
The Lord comes on the clouds of heaven. But what does the addition mean: with great power and glory? When Paul speaks in 1 Thessalonians 4 about the moment of the snatching away and explains how this will happen, he concludes his explanation with: and so shall we always be with the Lord (1 Thess. 4:17). From the moment the dead are raised in Christ and caught up with those who are alive until the meeting of the Lord in the air, we will always be together with Him.

30 …and they shall see the Son of Man coming in the clouds of heaven with great power and glory.

Head and body
When He appears, we will be there. When the Christ appears, it is Head and Body. And with this knowledge we can find it in the Hebrew prophets, because it is already hidden there.

Zechariah 14
4 And his feet shall stand in that day on the Mount of Olives, which is over the face of Jerusalem on the east side…
5 …And the LORD my God will come, and all the saints with him.

saints
In this passage that speaks of the Lord’s return on the Mount of Olives, it states that this will be with all the saints with him. It is usually stated that the Lord will appear with a host of angels. But angels are nowhere called saints in the Hebrew Bible. Believers are referred to by Paul as saints (Rom.1:7; 1 Cor.1:2; Eph.1:1; etc.) and from 1 Thessalonians 4:17 we know that where He is, we will be with Him .

Colossians 3
4 When Christ, who is our life, is revealed, then you also will be revealed together with Him in glory.
