Christ suffered and died for our sins. He bore the suffering that came upon Him, because He knew the joy that was set before Him (Heb.12:2). Jesus Christ knew the glory He would receive and that He would receive it through suffering. After all, this had already been foretold in the Tanakh:
Isaiah 53
10 (…) the desire of YAHWEH shall prosper in His hand.
11 He will see the toil of his soul, and he will be satisfied.
What did He have in mind that allowed Him to endure the terrible suffering that came upon Him? What was the desire of His God and Father that would prosper in His hand?
1 Timothy 2
3 (…) God our Savior,
4 Who wants all people to be saved and to come to a realization of the truth.
5 For there is one God…
He will be satisfied
There is one God who wants all people to be saved. The Lord knew His Father’s will and had all in view when He suffered and died for the world. He will be satisfied, whatever He intends will happen. He has therefore been sent as the Savior of the world (John 4:42; 1 John 4:14). And this truth will one day be realized and confessed wholeheartedly by every person (Phil.2:10-11)!
