Judges 7:21-24 Armageddon

The confrontation between Gideon and his small army and the Midianites in the Valley of Jezreel points to the future end-time battle prophesied to take place in the Valley of Megiddo, which is called Armageddon in Revelation.

Har means mountain; Megiddo is a city in northern Israel overlooking the Jezreel Valley. The Valley of Megiddo is part of the much larger Jezreel Valley (Judg. 6:33). In prophecy, it is also called “the Valley of Jehoshaphat” (=YAHWEH judges). There the nations will be judged.

Joel 3
1 For behold, in those days and at that time, when I bring back the captivity of Judah and Jerusalem,
2 I will gather all the nations and bring them down to the Valley of Jehoshaphat. There I will enter into judgment with them for my people and for my inheritance Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations, and for my land which they have divided.
(…)
12 The nations will be gathered together to go up to the Valley of Jehoshaphat, for there I will sit to judge all the surrounding nations.
(…)
14 Multitudes, multitudes, in the Valley of Decision! For the day of the LORD is near in the Valley of Decision.

Valley of Decision
In addition to the names I mentioned earlier, in Joel 3 the plain is given another name: “the Valley of Decision.” This passage describes three things: God gathers the nations (verses 2 and 12), He sits there to judge the nations (verse 12), and He pronounces His decision (verse 14). The valley is depicted as a judgment hall.

Revelation 16
14 (…) who go out to the kings of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God the Almighty.
15 Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he who watches (…)
16 And they gathered them together to the place that is called in Hebrew, Armageddon.
